Why three days points to full-body sessions
A split routine divides the body across the week: legs one day, chest another, back on a third. That works when you train five or six times. On three days it means each muscle group gets one session a week, and a missed day drops a whole body part until the following week.
Full-body sessions avoid that. Every visit trains legs, hips, chest, back and shoulders, so each area is worked three times a week, and a missed session costs you a third of the week rather than a body part. The World Health Organization's 2020 guidelines advise adults to do muscle-strengthening activities that involve all major muscle groups on two or more days a week. If three visits suits your diary, RPM's membership tiers set out what to confirm before you choose one.
The three-day template
Each day uses the same slots in the same order, with a different exercise in each slot, so the week covers more movements. Put the most demanding exercise first, while you are fresh.
| Slot | Day A | Day B | Day C |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lower body, main | Squat in the rack, or leg press | Romanian deadlift with a barbell or dumbbells | Split squat, or stepping onto a box |
| Upper push | Dumbbell bench press | Overhead press, seated or standing | Incline dumbbell press |
| Upper pull | Seated cable row | Lat pulldown | Dumbbell row on a bench |
| Lower body, second | Hip thrust or glute bridge | Leg press with the feet set higher | Leg curl machine |
| Carry or trunk | Farmer's carry along the turf | Plank variations | Suitcase carry, one hand at a time |
| Optional finish | Five easy minutes on a bike | Sled push for a few lengths | Kettlebell swings |
Sets, reps and loads depend on your experience and goal, so take them from a coach or a written programme. If you have a medical condition or an injury, check with your doctor before you start.
Progress by adding a little weight or one more rep when every set in a slot looks the way it did last week. WHO's guidelines suggest starting with small amounts of activity and increasing frequency, intensity and duration gradually over time, which suits a plan that repeats every week.
Spacing three days around the Abu Dhabi week
Leave at least one day between sessions so each full-body day starts fresh. With the Saturday–Sunday weekend and shorter Friday hours at many gyms, three patterns come up most often.
| Days | Why it works | What can break it |
|---|---|---|
| Saturday, Monday, Wednesday | One weekend session, two on office days, and Thursday evening left open | A heavy Monday after the weekend |
| Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday | Saturday stays clear for family plans | Thursday evenings filling with social plans |
| Monday, Wednesday, Saturday | Two weekday sessions with a long gap before Saturday | Losing Wednesday leaves a gap of four days |
Friday works as a training day too, but the gym day is shorter at many clubs, RPM included, and Friday prayers shape the middle of the day. Check the hours before you build a pattern around it.
What a gym needs when every session covers everything
A full-body day touches four or five stations in an hour. That changes what to look for, because one queue holds up the whole session rather than one exercise.
- A lower-body anchor with a backup: a squat rack, plus a leg press or dumbbells heavy enough for goblet squats when the rack is taken.
- Benches you can use beside the dumbbells, so pressing does not mean carrying weights across the floor.
- A cable or pulldown station for the pulling slot, ideally on a tower several people can share.
- Open floor or a turf lane for carries, the slot a crowded gym quietly squeezes out.
- Stations grouped tightly enough to alternate an upper and a lower exercise without a long walk.
- Opening hours that cover all three of your days, including a Friday or weekend morning if your pattern uses one.
Test this before you join by walking Day A in order. Stand at each station and decide what you would do if it were busy.
Paying for three visits a week
How do I choose a gym membership for three workouts a week in Abu Dhabi?
Work out what each visit will cost you, then check that the tier covers the stations in your template. Three sessions a week is about 13 visits a month (3 × 52 ÷ 12), so divide the monthly fee by 13 and compare the result with paying per visit. Then make sure the membership includes the section and floor you need on each of your three days, and ask whether you can freeze it for summer travel.
A worked example with placeholders: if a membership costs [M] a month and a single visit costs [V], the membership wins once [M] ÷ 13 is less than [V]. Miss one session every week and you are down to about nine visits, so run the sum on nine as well. If the membership still wins on your bad weeks, it is the sounder buy. Pay per visit or a membership works through the other cases.
Which tier fits depends on who writes the plan. If you will run the template yourself, ask about a floor-only tier. If you would rather a coach set the loads and change the exercises every few weeks, ask about a tier with coached programming.
How RPM handles a three-day week
There is one RPM club, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal. Photos of the training floor show a squat rack with colour bumper plates, a plate-loaded leg press and pulldown, benches with dumbbells, and cable towers. The functional area adds a turf lane with a sled and kettlebells for the carry and finish slots.
Floor is the training-floor tier, which suits running this template on your own. Engine adds coached programming if you want someone to set it and update it. Prices and what each tier includes are confirmed when you enquire. Women can run the template in the women-only Ladies section, which has its own strength and cardio equipment, and men train in the Mixed section.
What RPM cannot tell you in advance is how busy each station is at your hour, because it does not publish busy times. Walk your Day A route on a free guided tour at the time you would train, and ask the team which stations have a queue then.

Questions, answered.
Is three days a week enough to get stronger?
For most adults it is enough to make steady progress, provided the sessions train every major muscle group and the loads creep up over time. How fast you progress depends on your starting point, your sleep and how consistent you are, so nobody can promise a timescale.
What if I miss a session?
Do it the next day if that still leaves a rest day before the following session. If not, skip it and carry on with the next day in the rotation. Two full-body days back to back usually leave the second one flat.
Should I do cardio on the days in between?
WHO also advises 150 to 300 minutes of moderate aerobic activity a week, which three lifting sessions do not cover on their own. Brisk walks, a treadmill in the summer months or an easy bike session on rest days fill the gap. Keep them easy so the next lifting day starts fresh.
When should I move to four days?
When three sessions feel too few and you can protect a fourth slot most weeks. The four-day guide shows how the plan changes to upper and lower days.
