Five details to confirm before you set off
| Detail | Why it matters here | How to confirm it |
|---|---|---|
| Building or complex name | An area name covers dozens of towers and villas | Ask for the building name exactly as it appears on the sign |
| Level | Many gyms sit on an upper floor or a podium | Ask which level, and whether the lift goes straight there |
| Entrance | Large complexes have several doors, and some close in the evening or on Fridays | Ask which entrance to use at your hour |
| Car park | Street parking in central Abu Dhabi is paid and busy, and some bays are kept for residents' permits | Ask where visitors park, and whether there is a charge |
| Map pin | Pins can land in the middle of a block or on the wrong side of a divided road | Check the pin on satellite view before relying on it |
RPM's location and directions page has the address and a map link. The club is on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, with free on-site parking and a lift up to Level 4.
Test the map pin before you trust it
- Open the pin in two apps, such as Google Maps and Apple Maps, and see whether they agree.
- Switch to satellite view and check that the pin sits on the building, not on a car park across the road.
- Look at which side of a divided road the pin is on. Missing the turn on many Abu Dhabi roads means driving on to the next U-turn.
- Check that the name on the pin matches the business, and watch for an old or duplicate listing.
- Use street-level imagery, where it exists, to see the entrance before you arrive.
- If the pin and the written address disagree, ask the gym which one is right.
Run these checks on RPM's map link too. A pin is only as good as the last time someone checked it, so if anything looks off, message the team before you set off.
Inside a complex: from car park to the right door
Sports complexes, malls and mixed-use towers in Abu Dhabi often have several car park levels, more than one lift core and doors that serve different tenants. A gym can be easy to reach from one lift and awkward from another.
- Ask which car park level to use for the gym, and which lift to take.
- Look for a directory board or ask the security desk, especially on a first evening visit.
- In a mall, ask whether the gym's lift or entrance still works after the mall closes and on Friday mornings.
- Note the walk from the car to the lift. In July, a covered route is worth knowing about.
At RPM, park on site at AD HUB, then take the lift to Level 4. If you are unsure which way to go, ask the team on WhatsApp.
Landmarks and road names
Directions in Abu Dhabi are often given by landmarks rather than street numbers, and the names on maps do not always match the names people use. Airport Road appears on many maps as Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street, and Muroor Road as Sultan Bin Zayed The First Street. If someone gives you directions by an old name, check it against the map.
- Ask the gym for one landmark you can see from the road, such as the building's name sign or a tower beside it.
- Note the building number on the address plate outside, if your maps app or the gym uses Abu Dhabi's Onwani addresses.
- For a taxi or ride-hailing car, share a pin for the drop-off point rather than describing the area.
Share a pin on WhatsApp the right way
- To send a fixed location, open the attachment menu in a chat, choose Location and pick the spot on the map. Send the car park entrance, not the middle of the building.
- Live location is for a person on the move, not for a place. Use it only if someone is meeting you and wants to see you arrive.
- When you receive a pin, open it in your maps app and check it on satellite view before saving it.
- Save the checked pin with a clear name, such as Gym A car park, so it is ready on the day.
- If you are driving alone after dark, share your live location with family for the trip.
Asking the gym to send you a pin is reasonable. Check it the same way as any other.
The day before your visit
- Confirm the time and the name of the person you are meeting.
- Ask which entrance and lift to use at that hour.
- Check whether an event is on at the complex, since matches and tournaments can fill car parks.
- Look at the route in your maps app for roadworks or closures.
- Download the area for offline use if your signal drops in basements.
With the destination settled, plan the drive itself. Finding the easiest route at your hour covers traffic and timing, and planning your gym tours fits the visit into your week.
RPM's address in one place
RPM Gym has one club and no other branch: Level 4, AD HUB Sports Complex, Al Manhal, Abu Dhabi. The Mixed section and the women-only Ladies section are both in that club. If the pin and the building do not seem to match when you arrive, message the team from the car park.
Questions, answered.
What if two listings appear for the same gym?
One may be old or added by someone else. Check which one has recent reviews and photos, compare both with the address the gym gives you, and ask the gym which pin it uses.
Is the area name enough for a taxi?
Rarely. An area such as Al Manhal or Khalidiya covers many buildings. Give the driver the building name and share a pin for the entrance you want.
Why does my maps app send me to the wrong side of the road?
Pins often sit on the centre of a building or plot, and the app routes you to whichever road point it picks, which may be across a divided road. Move the pin to the car park entrance and save that instead.
Does RPM have more than one branch?
No. RPM is one club, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal.
Can I get help finding the club on the day?
Yes. Message the team on WhatsApp and they can talk you through the way up.
