A short break on the Corniche, and two people who both train
Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche is a hotel on the Corniche. Its website lists a fitness centre with a steam room and sauna, a pool, and a spa with separate hammams and jacuzzis for women and for men.
This page is for couples on a city break of a few nights who both want to train, sometimes together and sometimes not. RPM is not connected with the hotel in any way. Its single club is on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, so a session means a trip inland for the pair of you. Start with what a couple on a Corniche city break should know about RPM, then pick a format below.
Together, apart, or a bit of both
Most couples settle on one of three formats, depending on what each of you wants from the hour and where each of you is comfortable training.
| Format | How it works | Suits | Check first |
|---|---|---|---|
| Side by side | You both train in the Mixed section and take turns on the same rack or cable tower | Similar plans, or one partner showing the other the basics | That both passes cover the Mixed section |
| Separate floors | A woman trains in the Ladies section, on its own equipment or in a reformer class, while her partner uses the Mixed section | A woman who prefers a women-only space, or a class her partner cannot join | That her pass covers the Ladies section and the class |
| Shared start, split finish | Conditioning together in the Mixed section's functional area, then she moves to the Ladies section | Couples who want part of the hour together | Whether her pass allows both sections on one visit |
Men train in the Mixed section. The Ladies section is for women only, and the Pilates studio sits inside it.
The Ladies section has strength and cardio equipment of its own, and the studio photos show reformers, some with towers, so ask which apparatus a class uses. Two men share the Mixed section, while two women can pick either section.
Lining up two sessions so nobody waits
Training as a pair is mostly a timing problem. Separate plans finish at different moments, and on a short break, waiting around eats into the afternoon.
- Book any class first. The timetable changes, so confirm the time with the team and size the other session to match it.
- Agree a finishing time and a meeting point, such as reception, before you split up.
- End the shorter plan with something flexible, like easy cardio, that can grow or shrink to fill the gap.
- Phones live in the keypad lockers in the changing area, so a late-running message may go unseen. Keep to the agreed time.
- If one of you wants a coach, book personal training for that hour and let the other follow their own plan meanwhile.
Which day of the break to give the gym
On a break of a few nights, one shared visit is usually plenty. Choose the day by what the rest of it holds.
| Day | Train? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Arrival day | No | Travel and check-in come first, then a first look at the Corniche |
| A day of sightseeing outdoors | Afterwards, if at all | Heat and walking tire the legs, above all from May to September |
| A day of museums or malls | Yes, morning or evening | Indoor days leave energy over for a session |
| Friday | Only if the timings suit | Club hours are shorter, and the midday prayers shape the day |
| Departure day | Only with a late flight | Check-out and the airport take priority |
| Days | Opening hours |
|---|---|
| Saturday to Thursday | 06:00–23:00 |
| Friday | 09:00–22:00 |
Hours can change, for example during Ramadan. Confirm with the team before a late or early visit.
Early-morning and late-evening opening lets the visit sit before a day out or after it.
Khalifa Street, Muroor Road and access for two
The mapped route from the hotel runs by way of Khalifa Bin Zayed The First Street (Khalifa Street) and Sultan Bin Zayed The First Street (Muroor Road), finishing on Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Street into AD HUB. The route box rates it a short cross-island trip, and one taxi carries you both. A hire car can go in AD HUB's free on-site parking, with the lift up to Level 4.
- Ask the team about access for each of you separately. A day pass may be on offer, with price, inclusions and availability confirmed for your dates.
- Confirm which section each pass covers, and whether a woman's pass includes classes in the Pilates studio.
- If you both fancy the recovery suite afterwards, ask whether it is included. Check with a doctor before using it if either of you is pregnant or has a heart condition.
- Questions about the hotel's hammams belong with its spa. Whether its fitness centre is enough for either of you is the subject of a side-by-side look at hotel gyms and full gyms.

Questions, answered.
Is RPM part of the Sofitel?
No. RPM is a separate club with no link to the hotel. Its only address is Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, and the route box gives the mapped drive from the Corniche.
Can my husband come into the Ladies section with me?
No. The Ladies section is for women only. He trains in the Mixed section, and you meet at the agreed time once you are both finished.
Can one coach train both of us at once?
Personal training at RPM is one-to-one coaching built around a goal. Ask the team whether a joint session is possible before you plan around it.
We are two women travelling together. Where can we train?
In either section. You can train together in the Ladies section or the Mixed section, or one of you in each. Confirm that both passes cover the section you choose.
Is a gym visit worth it on a break of three nights?
If you both enjoy training, one visit makes a good shared morning. If only one of you is keen, that person can go alone while the other explores.
