A waterside stay with training in the plan
The Eastern Mangroves waterfront lies on the eastern side of Abu Dhabi island, where the mangroves meet the hotels along the Eastern Mangroves Corniche, Jannah Eastern Mangroves Suites among them. This page is for guests who packed training kit as well as swimwear: a leisure stay with a handful of real workouts in it, not a daily routine.
RPM is not on the waterfront and has no arrangement with any hotel there. Its single club is up on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex, in Al Manhal. Start with what a guest by the mangroves should know about RPM's one club, then plan the sessions below.
Paddle day or gym day? Pairing the two
A kayak trip through the mangroves, if one is on your list, puts most of its work on the upper body and trunk, with hours of sun on top. That decides what the gym should do on the days around it.
| Your plan for the day | What to do at RPM | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A morning paddle | Nothing that day, or a short leg session in the evening | Your back and shoulders have already done the pulling |
| The day after a paddle | Lower body, plus conditioning on the turf lane | The upper body gets a day to settle |
| A day with nothing booked | Your main session: heavy lifts or a coached hour | The one day you arrive fresh |
| The day before a paddle | Legs, or a light session for the whole body | Your arms stay ready for the water |
| Departure day | Skip it | Packing, checkout and the airport leave little room |
If the sun has worn you down, a lighter session or a rest day is the better call. Drink water steadily through a day outdoors and before any evening session.
From May to September, give the water the early morning or the hour after the sun drops, and give the gym the middle of the day, when being indoors is the point. Keep heavy rows and pulldowns away from the morning after a long paddle.
Choose your sessions before you check in
On a leisure stay, sessions that were never planned rarely happen. Decide before you arrive how many you want and what each one is for, then slot them around the days on the water you have already booked.
- Count only the sessions that need a full club: a rack with bumper plates, the sled, a coach or a class. Cardio and mobility can happen wherever you are staying.
- Two or three trips suit most leisure stays. Beyond that, the holiday starts to revolve around the drive.
- Give the main session to the day with nothing else booked.
- Ask the team about access for your dates before you count on any of it. A day pass or a weekly pass may be on offer, and the team confirms availability, price and what each one includes.
For the wider question of which sessions justify leaving a hotel at all, read hotel gym or full gym. This page only covers fitting the trips around the water.
One bag for the water, one for the weights
Sand and salt water do not belong in a gym bag. Keep two bags for the stay and never swap what goes in them.
| Water bag | Gym bag |
|---|---|
| Swimwear and a dry top | Training clothes and clean trainers |
| Sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses | A water bottle and your phone |
| Water shoes or sandals | A change of clothes for the drive back |
| A waterproof pouch for your phone | A small wash bag |
Keypad lockers in the changing area take the gym bag, phone and keys during a session. Ask the team about showers, and whether towels are provided, before you leave the room without one.
Along Salam Street to AD HUB
The mapped route follows Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Street (Salam Street) for most of the way, then finishes on Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Street into AD HUB. The route box rates it a short cross-island trip, and weekday office traffic on Salam Street can stretch it at either end of the working day. At AD HUB you leave the car in free on-site parking and ride the lift up to Level 4.
| Days | Opening hours |
|---|---|
| Saturday to Thursday | 06:00–23:00 |
| Friday | 09:00–22:00 |
Hours can change, for example during Ramadan. Confirm with the team before a late or early visit.
Opening runs from early morning to late evening, with shorter Friday hours and its own times in Ramadan. A session after sunset suits a day spent outdoors.
Questions, answered.
Is RPM part of any Eastern Mangroves hotel?
No. RPM has a single club, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, and no link with any hotel. The route box shows the mapped drive from the waterfront.
Can I train the morning after a kayak trip?
Yes, as long as the session leaves your upper body alone. Legs, the sled and some conditioning suit that morning. Save heavy pulling for a day later.
I am travelling alone as a woman. Is there a women-only space?
Yes: the Ladies section admits women only and has strength and cardio equipment of its own, plus the Pilates studio. Ask the team whether a visitor's pass covers it before you book.
Can a visitor join a group class?
Classes run in both sections, and the timetable changes. Ask the team which classes a pass holder can join on your dates.
Is the recovery suite worth it after a day in the sun?
Heat on top of hours of sun is not for everyone, so go gently and first ask whether your pass includes the suite at all. Anyone pregnant or living with a heart condition should ask a doctor before the sauna, steam room or ice bath.
