Nights at NMC Specialty Hospital, Abu Dhabi: sleep first, train before you go back in

If you work nights at NMC Specialty Hospital in Al Danah, train after your main sleep and before the next shift, not on the way home in the morning. RPM is a short drive from downtown and keeps late-evening opening, so a moderate session fits in the waking hours before you go back in. Check the hours below against your start time, and keep the hardest training for nights off.

A downtown hospital that stays open through the night

NMC Healthcare's page for NMC Specialty Hospital gives its address in downtown Al Danah and says its general clinic and pharmacy stay open through the night. This page is for the people who work those nights.

RPM is one club, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, and it has no arrangement with the hospital or with NMC. If your nights come in short runs inside a rotating rota, sleep between two nights usually matters more than any session. The plan below suits people who work nights as a steady pattern. Before shaping your week around it, read where RPM sits for someone whose working day starts at dusk.

Your waking day, in order

The clock times will be yours. The order is what matters:

  1. Sleep. Nothing at the gym is worth cutting the main sleep short, so set the session around it, never the other way round.
  2. Wake and eat a proper meal. Training on coffee alone makes a long night longer.
  3. Deal with family, errands and anything else the day needs.
  4. Train: a moderate session that ends with enough time left for a meal, a change of clothes and the drive to work.
  5. Eat again, pack the work bag and head in.

If something has to give, drop the session, not the sleep or the meal before work.

Before you leave for the club: a checklist

  • Main sleep done, and not cut short for the session.
  • A meal eaten since you woke.
  • The hours below leave room for the session and the drive on to work.
  • Work clothes and badge packed, with food for the night, so you can go straight on if you need to.
  • If tonight is the first night after days off, a lighter session than usual.
DaysOpening hours
Saturday to Thursday06:00–23:00
Friday09:00–22:00

Hours can change, for example during Ramadan. Confirm with the team before a late or early visit.

Friday hours are shorter, so check the times above before a night shift that starts on a Friday.

What a pre-shift session should leave in the tank

A session before a night has one job: to leave you sharper at the start of the shift, not flatter. That rules some work in and some out.

  • In: machine and cable work at a steady effort, moderate free-weight sets, steady cardio on the bike or treadmill, and mobility.
  • Out: maximal lifts, long conditioning finishers and anything new that might leave you sore by the middle of the night.
  • Heat and cold: keep the sauna, steam room and ice bath in the recovery suite for nights off rather than the hours before a shift. If you are pregnant or have a heart condition, ask your doctor before using them, and ask which tiers include the suite.

Keep the heaviest work for nights off, after good sleep, and book a coach for those days through personal training if you want one.

Nights off, and the drive in

On nights off, the club's daytime hours open up: a longer session, a coached one, or a reformer class for women in the Ladies section, if your tier covers it.

The mapped route from the hospital finishes on Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street (Airport Road) into Al Manhal, where AD HUB has free on-site parking and a lift to Level 4. Leave a margin for the drive back downtown, since the route box gives a mapped minimum, not a promise.

// Frequently Asked

Questions, answered.

The club opens early. Can I train straight after my night shift?

It does open early, as the hours above show, but after a night the better choice is sleep. Train in the waking hours before your next shift, or on a night off.

Is RPM part of NMC, or in Al Danah?

No. RPM is a separate club with a single site, Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, and it has no arrangement with NMC.

How long before my shift should I finish training?

Long enough to eat, change and drive in without rushing. Try one session with a generous gap, notice how the first hours of the shift feel, and adjust.

What if my night shift starts on a Friday?

Friday opening hours are shorter, as the block above shows, so a Friday session may need to come earlier in your waking day, or move to a night off.

Can I keep work clothes at the club?

Ask the team how the keypad lockers in the changing area are used, and whether anything can stay between visits. Ask too whether towels are provided, and about showers.
