Zayed The First Street, better known as Electra Street
Electra Street is a downtown street on Abu Dhabi island, and its official name is Zayed The First Street. This page is written for the people whose days are tied to it: some live along it, some work along it, and some do both.
Each group uses a gym differently, so the advice below is split by situation. RPM is one club, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, and it is not on Electra Street. For a plain view of distance and timing from wherever you start, see checking whether RPM is within your reach.
Searching for a gym near Zayed The First Street? Is that Electra Street?
It is. The formal title is Zayed The First Street, and Electra Street is the name people use day to day, so both searches lead to the same downtown street. The route figures here apply whichever name you used.
Three downtown routines, three places for RPM
| Your situation | Where RPM fits | What to settle first |
|---|---|---|
| You live on Electra Street and work elsewhere | Evenings once you are home, and weekend mornings | Whether you will really go out again after getting home |
| You work on Electra Street and live elsewhere | Straight after office hours, before the drive home | Packing your kit in the morning, so the stop needs no detour |
| You live and work downtown | A short trip out and back, early or late | Which end of the day you can protect from meetings and errands |
If the choice between a gym by home and a gym by work is still open, weighing a gym near work against one near home sets out both sides.
| Days | Opening hours |
|---|---|
| Saturday to Thursday | 06:00–23:00 |
| Friday | 09:00–22:00 |
Hours can change, for example during Ramadan. Confirm with the team before a late or early visit.
The hours above cover early mornings and late evenings, with a shorter Friday, and they can move during Ramadan. Match them against your own day before you commit to a slot.
New to Abu Dhabi with a first home on Electra Street?
If you have just moved to the city and your first flat is on Electra Street, a few practical questions are worth settling before you join any gym.
- Getting there: the route box covers driving only. Until you have a car, try the trip by whatever means you would actually use, at the hour you would train.
- The season you arrive in: landing in the hot months limits outdoor exercise for a while, so start with an indoor plan you can keep all summer.
- Your first Ramadan: opening hours can change for the month and daily routines move around iftar, so ask the team about the adjusted hours early.
- Commitment: if you are unsure how long you will stay downtown, ask whether a day pass or weekly pass is available while you decide. Both are time-sensitive, so the team confirms availability, price and inclusions.
- Sections: women who prefer to train without men can ask to see the Ladies section on the tour, and should check that their tier covers it.
For the wider first-month checklist, read the guide for new Abu Dhabi residents.
From Electra Street to the car park at AD HUB
The route box counts from the spot where Electra Street passes closest to RPM, so if your building sits further along the street, allow for that stretch as well. From there the mapped route joins Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street (Airport Road) for its final part.
AD HUB has free parking on site, and the club is a lift ride up, on Level 4.
Run one test evening before you join
Pick an evening that matches your situation. Residents leave home at their usual time after dinner, and workers drive straight from the office. Book the free guided tour for that evening, so the walk-through with the team happens at the hour you would train. Afterwards, answer three questions honestly:
- Did the trip feel like part of the evening, or like a separate outing?
- Was the training floor busy at that hour, and does that matter for what you want to do?
- Would you repeat it after a long meeting or a hard day at work?
Two yeses usually mean the routine will hold. If not, try the other end of the day before you rule RPM out.
Questions, answered.
Can I train at RPM without leaving Electra Street?
No. RPM runs one club only, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal. The route box shows how the trip from Electra Street measures.
I live and work downtown. Is a gym in Al Manhal worth leaving the area for?
It is if you want what a small downtown gym or a building gym may lack, such as a full strength floor, coaching or a section for women only. If light cardio is all you need, staying put may suit you better.
A move broke my routine. Can a coach get me started again?
One or two coached sessions at the start are a sensible way back in. Personal training at RPM is planned around your goal and your timetable, so mention the move and your new working hours.
I work on Electra Street until late. Will the club still be open?
Compare your finishing time with the hours shown above. The club stays open late on most days and closes earlier on Fridays, and Ramadan can change both.
