Two crossings a day, and the rule that follows
Every working day, people from the mainland suburbs cross onto Abu Dhabi island by the Al Maqta and Mussafah bridges, and cross back in the evening. This page is for them: the commuter whose office is on the island and whose home is not. The route box measures one route, from Al Maqta' Street at the bridge end, and rates it a longer island or bridge trip.
RPM is one club, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, on the island side. That makes the plan simple: the session rides on a crossing you already make, and never adds one. Before anything else, read where RPM fits a commute that crosses the water twice a day.
Is Al Manhal on your way to the bridge, or off to one side?
Offices sit all over the island, so the same club can be a stop for one commuter and a detour for the next. Check on a map, at the hour you would leave work, where Al Manhal sits between your desk and your bridge.
| Your situation | What the session costs | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| Al Manhal lies between your office and the bridge | A stop on a drive you make anyway | A strong fit |
| Al Manhal is off to one side of that drive | A detour before the crossing home | A fit for two fixed evenings a week |
| You live on the island and work on the mainland | Nothing extra, if you train after crossing home | A fit, at the home end |
| You cross at irregular hours for shift work | It depends on whether the club is open at your hour | Check the hours block below first |
If none of these rows describes your week, the honest answer is a gym on your side of the water. Work end or home end weighs the two in more detail.
Morning crossers: over early, train, then the office
Some commuters prefer to cross before the inbound rush rather than sit in it. If you are one of them, the time you would have spent queueing becomes a session.
- Leave home early enough to cross ahead of the usual inbound traffic. Test the time on a normal weekday before you rely on it.
- Park at AD HUB and take the lift to Level 4.
- Train for the time you have planned, and stop on time.
- Get ready for work with a keypad locker for your office clothes and the grooming hub, with its hairdryers and products. Check with the team what the showers are like before relying on them each morning.
- Drive to the office, already on the island.
The guide to training before work covers sleep, breakfast and keeping an early slot through the busy months.
Sessions sized for a commuter stop
| How the day went | Session | Where at RPM |
|---|---|---|
| Short on time | One main lift and a quick finisher | The squat rack or the plate-loaded machines |
| A normal day | A full strength session from your plan | The training floor and cable towers |
| Long and draining | Easy cardio and mobility, then home | Treadmills, cross-trainers or the upright bike |
| Booked in advance | A coached session | Either section, with your coach |
On draining days, some members use the recovery suite instead of training. If you are pregnant or have a heart condition, ask your doctor before using the sauna, steam room or ice bath, and remember the drive home is still ahead.
When the crossing does not go to plan
- Work ran late: skip the session rather than training late and crossing home tired. Move it to the next planned day.
- The roads are slower than usual: shorten the session instead of dropping it, if you are already parked.
- Ramadan: traffic patterns and club hours both change, so rebuild the plan once you know the month's timetable.
- Fridays: the club keeps shorter hours, so a Friday stop is usually a morning one.
If you feel too tired to drive after a session, rest and eat before setting off. A bridge at night is no place to fight sleep.
Al Maqta' Street, Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street and your own crossing
The mapped route starts on Al Maqta' Street and follows Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street, then Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street (Airport Road) into Al Manhal. If you cross by the Mussafah bridge, your own route will differ, so time it from your office or your door. Arrival is the same from either bridge: free on-site parking at AD HUB, then the lift to Level 4.
| Days | Opening hours |
|---|---|
| Saturday to Thursday | 06:00–23:00 |
| Friday | 09:00–22:00 |
Hours can change, for example during Ramadan. Confirm with the team before a late or early visit.
Book the free guided tour on a working day, at the hour you would stop, and drive the real route to it. It is a walk round with a team member, not a workout.
Questions, answered.
Does RPM have a club on the mainland?
No. RPM has one club, on the island, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal. The route box shows the mapped trip from Al Maqta' Street.
Which bridge is better for reaching RPM?
That depends on where you start and on the traffic at your hour. The route box measures one route, from Al Maqta' Street, so drive both crossings at your usual time and keep the one that works.
I live on the island and work in Mussafah. What changes for me?
In reverse. Your crossings run against the main flow, and the session belongs at the home end: after you cross back in the evening, or before you set off in the morning.
How many sessions a week make sense on a bridge commute?
Two fixed ones are a good start. Add a third only when the first two have held for a month without pushing you into late crossings.
Can I test the stop before joining?
Ask the team whether a weekly pass is available at the moment, and use it on your real commuting days. Passes change, so confirm availability and price, and ask what is included.
