Which way your weekday drive points
Al Shahama is a suburb on the northern mainland, towards Dubai, and the route box rates the drive from there to RPM, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, a long commute. For a resident, the first question is direction. If your workplace is on the island, you already make most of this drive on weekdays, and a session at the island end adds only the stretch from your office to the club and a later start home. If your work points the other way, RPM is off your route altogether, and a gym in your own area is the answer. For the bigger picture, see the basics of RPM's location for weekday drivers from the north.
Five assumptions weekday commuters make, checked
| The assumption | What tends to happen | What works instead |
|---|---|---|
| I will train every evening on the way home | A long drive plus a session each day wears thin by midweek | Two fixed evenings, with the rest of the week left open |
| The club is on my way, so the stop costs nothing | The leg from your office to AD HUB, then back onto the road home, takes real time | Time the office-to-club leg once, at your leaving hour, before you decide |
| Training late means a clear road home | Sometimes, but late sessions also mean late dinners and short nights | Choose the slot by your sleep as well as by the traffic |
| I can go straight from the office and change there | Workable, if it is planned | A bag kept in the car, and a keypad locker in the changing area |
| Weekends will make up for missed weekdays | A long drive on a day off is the first thing to go | Weekends at a local gym, or kept for a booked coached session |
The plan can still work, as long as it is smaller than first-week enthusiasm suggests. The guide for people who train after work has more on keeping evening sessions on the calendar. If you plan to change at the club, ask about showers and whether towels are provided.
A weekday session that leaves room for the drive home
On a long commute, the session is sized around the drive. Some ways to keep it in proportion:
- Pick one main lift or one coached block per session, then stop. The training floor has a squat rack with colour bumper plates, as well as plate-loaded machines such as the leg press.
- Eat something before you leave the office, so you are not driving home hungry after training.
- Keep conditioning short on a work night: a few rounds on the sled lane or a spin bike will do.
- If you use the recovery suite, leave time to cool down and drink water before the drive. Anyone pregnant or with a heart condition should check with a doctor before using the sauna or ice bath.
- If a coach writes your plan, ask for sessions sized to a work evening. Personal training at RPM is planned around your goal and schedule.
In along Salam Street, and the evening leg back
The mapped route from Al Shahama follows Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Street (Salam Street) onto the island and ends on Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Street at AD HUB, where you park in the free on-site parking and take the lift to Level 4. The figures start from a single mapped point in Al Shahama.
Your morning drive in already tells you how the road behaves at that hour. The leg to test is the evening one: office to club, then club to home. Friday is a poor weekday choice, as the club keeps shorter hours and Friday prayers fill the middle of the day.
| Days | Opening hours |
|---|---|
| Saturday to Thursday | 06:00–23:00 |
| Friday | 09:00–22:00 |
Hours can change, for example during Ramadan. Confirm with the team before a late or early visit.
Trying a weekday plan before you join
Book the free guided tour for a weekday evening, straight from work, so the first visit follows your real route. You are shown round by the team, and nobody expects you to train. Then ask whether a weekly pass is on sale, so you can test two evenings in an ordinary week. Pass terms change, and the team confirms whether one is available and what it covers.
At the end of that week, look at two things: how many of the planned sessions actually happened, and how you felt at work the next morning.
Questions, answered.
Is there an RPM in Al Shahama, or anywhere on the northern mainland?
No. RPM has one club, on the island in Al Manhal, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex. Nothing on the northern mainland carries its name.
I commute towards Dubai, not to the island. Is RPM worth it?
Only as an occasional trip for something specific, such as a coached session or the women-only Ladies section. Your routine belongs at a gym in your area or along your own route.
Should I train in the morning instead, on the way in?
Try it once. A morning session means leaving Al Shahama much earlier, and only you can judge whether that holds. If it does, the keypad lockers and the grooming hub's vanity area help you get ready for the office.
Does the Ladies section suit a woman commuting from Al Shahama?
Yes, if she wants to train among women only. It has a strength and cardio floor of its own plus the Pilates studio, staffed by female coaches from the roster. Confirm that her tier includes the section.
What changes in Ramadan?
Working hours and the club's hours can both shift during the month, so plan again once they are announced. Some commuters train after iftar, while others pause the island sessions and keep moving locally.
