Name your reason before you look at the map
Al Rawdah is a district on Abu Dhabi island that reaches towards Zayed Sports City. From there, RPM on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal is a trip across the island, and that changes how to judge it. A gym you have to cross the city for should give you something you would not get on your own side.
So work it out the other way round. Pick the one thing you would make the trip for, check how often it would put you on the road, then decide. For the general method of testing a trip at your training hour, see how to judge a cross-island gym trip.
Six reasons to cross, and what each one asks of you
Each row is something RPM actually offers. For the coaching route in detail, read about personal training at RPM.
| Your reason | How often it puts you at RPM | Check first |
|---|---|---|
| The Ladies section and its Pilates studio | Every training day, since it would be your main gym | That your tier covers the Ladies section, and the reformer class timetable |
| Coaching with one coach | Each coached session, plus any solo visits | Which coach suits your goal, and whether Engine or Atelier fits |
| The recovery suite | After harder sessions, rather than as a trip of its own | Which tiers include it |
| A full strength floor | Every lifting day | Whether the rack and free weights are busy at your hour |
| HYROX-style training on the functional floor | Each conditioning session | What the sessions involve. RPM is independent, not an official HYROX partner or venue |
| Youth fitness for a teenager | Whenever the sessions run | Which ages each session accepts, with a parent or guardian's approval |
The recovery suite has a Finnish sauna, an aroma steam room and an ice bath. If you are pregnant or have a heart condition, ask your doctor before using heat or cold. If none of the six rows is your reason, a gym on your own side of the island will probably serve you better.
Folding the trip into days you are already in the centre
The crossing feels lighter when it rides on a day that already takes you into central Abu Dhabi. A few ways that tends to work:
- You work in central Abu Dhabi: train before heading home, so your drive back may start after the worst of the rush.
- Saturday errands in the city: put the session first, before the shops and appointments fill the day.
- A teenager's youth session at RPM: train in your own section at the same time, if the timings line up.
- A coached session at a fixed time each week: build the week around it, and add solo visits only on days you are in the centre anyway.
If you are torn between training where you live and where you work, a gym by work or by home sets out that choice in full.
When staying on your side of the island is the better call
- You want short, frequent sessions with no commute at all.
- Weekends are your only training time and you would rather not cross the city on a day off.
- You need nothing from the table above, because cardio machines and a few racks are what you use.
- Your evenings are already full of school runs and activities in your own district.
That is an honest answer, not a failure. A gym you reach without thinking beats one you keep meaning to visit.
What the route box measures from Al Rawdah
The mapped route finishes on Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street (Airport Road) into Al Manhal, and it counts as a short cross-island trip. The figures are mapped from the Al Rawdah district as mapped. If your home is at a far corner of the district, or the Al Rawdah on your address is a different place, time the trip from your own door instead.
Parking at AD HUB is free and on site, then the lift to Level 4. Book the free guided tour for a day you are already in the centre, and drive it at the hour you would really train.
Questions, answered.
Is RPM in Al Rawdah?
No. RPM is one club, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal. From Al Rawdah it is a cross-island trip, with the mapped estimates at the top of this page.
My address says Al Rawdah, but the route box does not match my trip. Why?
The figures are mapped from the Al Rawdah district that reaches towards Zayed Sports City. If your home is somewhere else, or at a far corner of that district, your trip will differ, so time it from your door.
Is it worth crossing the island just for the sauna and ice bath?
As a trip on its own, rarely. The recovery suite makes more sense after a session you were coming for anyway. Ask which tiers include it.
I already belong to a gym on my side of the island. Should I switch?
Only if it lacks your reason from the table above. You could keep a local gym for everyday sessions and add coaching or Ladies-section visits at RPM, but compare the total cost and time before paying for two.
Can the rest of the family use the same trip?
If the sections suit everyone. Men train in the Mixed section, women can use either section, and youth fitness is coach-supervised and arranged by a parent or guardian. Confirm which sections each membership covers.
