Start with where you work, not where you live
Yas Island is an island, reached by bridge, and the drive from it to RPM on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal is what the route box calls a mainland commute. Few people will keep driving that far from home several evenings a week just to train, and nobody should feel they have to. What decides the question is where your working day happens. For the checks that apply to any gym you would drive to, see testing a gym against the drive you would really make.
| Where you work | Plain verdict | How RPM could fit |
|---|---|---|
| On Yas Island | A gym on Yas will suit you better | Only as an occasional trip for coaching or the Ladies section |
| In a mainland suburb | A gym by your office or your home is more practical | Rarely, unless a coached session is worth a weekend drive |
| On the main island, in or around central Abu Dhabi | RPM is worth comparing | A session after work, before the drive back to Yas |
| From home on most days | A gym on Yas will suit you better | Weekend visits for something you cannot get locally |
| Shifts or rotations | It depends on the rota | Sessions on days a shift already brings you onto the main island |
The office-end session, step by step
If your office is on the main island, you already make the mainland commute twice a day. A session at RPM after work adds a stop without adding a commute, and it moves your drive home later in the evening, when the road back towards Yas is often calmer than at the end of office hours.
- Put your training bag in the car when you leave Yas in the morning.
- Fix a finishing time at work on training days, so a late meeting does not eat the session.
- Drive from the office to AD HUB rather than going home first, which would mean doing the commute twice.
- Keep the session focused: one main lift or a coached block, then a short finisher.
- Eat something before the drive home if the session runs into dinner time.
Two or three of these evenings a week is a realistic target. The guide to training after work covers keeping evening sessions going through busy months.
| Days | Opening hours |
|---|---|
| Saturday to Thursday | 06:00–23:00 |
| Friday | 09:00–22:00 |
Hours can change, for example during Ramadan. Confirm with the team before a late or early visit.
Weekends from Yas are a separate decision
On Saturday and Sunday there is no office end to the day, so a visit means the full mainland commute in both directions. Decide each weekend visit on its own merits rather than copying your weekday plan.
- Usually worth the drive: a coached session you have booked, a reformer class in the Ladies section, or a long session that ends in the recovery suite.
- Usually not worth it: a routine workout you could do on Yas, or a quick cardio session.
- Worth combining: a weekend visit to family or errands in central Abu Dhabi, with the session first.
Fridays need their own plan, since the club keeps shorter hours and midday prayers shape the day. A morning or early-evening slot is the usual fit.
What a Yas resident gets for making the trip
- Coaching at the level you choose: the Floor tier for the training floor, Engine for added coached programming, or Atelier, built around one-to-one coaching. Inclusions and prices are confirmed on enquiry, as the membership page explains.
- A strength floor with a squat rack, colour bumper plates, plate-loaded machines such as the leg press, and cable towers.
- The Ladies section, a women-only area with its own equipment and the Pilates studio.
- Heat and cold in the recovery suite, which has a Finnish sauna, an aroma steam room and an ice bath. Ask which tiers include it, and check with a doctor first if you are pregnant or have a heart condition.
- A functional area for HYROX-style training. RPM runs it independently and is not an official HYROX partner or venue.
The mapped route, and where the figures start
The mapped route from Yas Island follows Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Street (Salam Street) before the final stretch on Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Street into AD HUB, which has free on-site parking and a lift up to Level 4. Those figures start on Yas. If you will come from an office in central Abu Dhabi, the trip that matters is the one from your desk, so time that instead.
Book the free guided tour straight after work on a normal weekday, and drive home to Yas afterwards. That one evening tells you more than any figure on a map.
Questions, answered.
Does RPM have a club on Yas Island?
No. RPM has one club, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal on the main island. From Yas it is a mainland commute, and the route box shows the mapped estimates.
Could I train before work instead of after?
You can, but it means leaving Yas early enough to beat the morning traffic onto the main island. After work is usually easier to keep, because the morning drive in tends to be the busier one. Try both before choosing.
Is there a short pass to test the after-work plan?
Ask whether a weekly pass is available. Passes are time-sensitive, so availability, price and inclusions are confirmed by the team.
Which tier suits two after-work sessions a week?
Floor if you train alone and know what to do, Engine if you want coached programming, Atelier if you want a coach running the plan. Confirm what each tier includes when you enquire.
My wife works on the main island too. Is there a women-only option?
Yes. The Ladies section is reserved for women, has its own strength and cardio equipment and the Pilates studio, and female coaches on the roster work there. Check that her tier covers it.
