A hospital on Reem, a club on the main island
Reem Hospital's website describes it as a multi-specialty hospital, and its contact page places it on Al Reem Island. RPM is a separate business with one club, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, and no link to the hospital. To see how the trip looks from your own start, read how RPM's club looks from the end of a shift on Reem.
| Where home is | After a shift | On days off |
|---|---|---|
| The main island | A stop on the drive home can work, because you leave Reem anyway | Any day that suits the opening hours |
| A mainland suburb | Only if your drive home crosses the middle of the island | A planned visit, paired with errands in town |
| Al Reem Island | Rarely: two crossings at the end of a tiring day | For a coached session or the Ladies section |
Before you leave the ward: a go or no-go check
Run through these at handover, not in the car park. A no to either of the first two means home.
- Did you sleep properly before this shift?
- Did the shift finish roughly on time, without a long handover?
- Is tonight's session already written, down to the exercises?
- Have you eaten in the last few hours, or is there food in the bag?
- Is tomorrow's start late enough to leave a full night's sleep after training?
- Does the club stay open long enough for the session you planned? The hours are below.
| Days | Opening hours |
|---|---|
| Saturday to Thursday | 06:00–23:00 |
| Friday | 09:00–22:00 |
Hours can change, for example during Ramadan. Confirm with the team before a late or early visit.
Six yes answers make an easy evening. Four or five mean the short version of the session. Fewer than that, and the drive home is the better plan.
Short sessions sized for the end of a shift
| Session | What it involves | Pick it when |
|---|---|---|
| Lift and leave | A warm-up, one main lift and one accessory on the training floor | You have energy but little time |
| Upper body only | Cable towers and dumbbells, legs left alone | You have been standing or walking all shift |
| Turf lane circuit | Sled pushes, kettlebells and battle ropes in short rounds | Your head is tired but your body is not |
| Easy spin | A bike or cross-trainer at a talking pace, then stretching | You want to move without adding fatigue |
| A booked coached slot | A session planned in advance around your rota | On the shift end that is most reliable each week |
Pick the session before the shift, keep the menu on your phone, and choose from it at handover. The guide to training after work has more on keeping evening sessions alive through busy months.
Off Reem by Defence Road and Salam Street
Leaving the island, the mapped route from the hospital takes Hazza' Bin Zayed The First Street (Defence Road) and Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Street (Salam Street) towards Al Manhal. The route box shows the mapped estimates, which shift-change traffic around the island can stretch. At AD HUB, use the free on-site parking, then take the lift to Level 4.
If you live on the main island, do one test evening at your usual shift end before relying on the stop, and note when you reach home. That arrival time decides whether the habit lasts.
The bag that stays in the car
- Training kit and shoes, packed on your day off so nothing is decided after a shift.
- A separate bag for scrubs or uniform on the way home.
- Water and a snack for the drive over.
- A wash bag. Keypad lockers in the changing area hold valuables, and the grooming hub has hairdryers and products at its vanity area.
- A question for the team about towels and showers, before your first evening.
Women who prefer a floor without men can use the women-only Ladies section, with its own equipment and the Pilates studio, if their tier covers it.

Questions, answered.
Is RPM on Al Reem Island, or connected with Reem Hospital?
No to both. RPM's only club is on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, on the main island, and the route box shows the mapped trip from the hospital.
How long should a session after a shift be?
Long enough for a warm-up and one or two main exercises, and short enough that you still get a full night's sleep. Plan it by what you will do rather than by the clock.
I live on Reem too. Is it worth crossing after a shift?
Seldom. You would cross off the island and back again while tired. Use a building gym on Reem for those evenings, and keep RPM for a day off, a coached session or the Ladies section.
Can I keep a bag at the club between shifts?
Ask the team how the keypad lockers in the changing area are used, and whether anything can stay between visits, before you plan around it.
Can a colleague and I train together after the same shift?
Yes. Men and women train together in the Mixed section, and women can also use the Ladies section if their tier covers it. If more of your team want to join, your employer can ask about corporate arrangements, which are set up per organisation.
