Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street, the spine of the island
Airport Road, officially Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street, is the spine of Abu Dhabi island, the main route that carries drivers onto the island and off it again. This page is written for them. Their question is rarely whether RPM is close enough. It is which way they are heading when they have time to spare.
RPM is a single club, set on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, and it is not on Airport Road, though the mapped estimates put it close by. If you have not yet settled whether any gym beside your route deserves a place in your week, start with what 'near me' should mean when you pick a gym.
Is Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street the same road as Airport Road?
Yes. Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street is the official name and Airport Road is the everyday one. A search for a gym near either name points to the same road, and to this page.
Inbound or outbound: which leg carries the session?
Everyone who commutes on Airport Road drives two legs a day, and a stop at RPM changes each of them differently.
| Leg of the day | What a stop changes | Tends to suit | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inbound, early | The session is banked before you reach the office | Fixed start times, and evenings kept for home | Leaving home earlier, and the club's opening time |
| Inbound, mid-morning | A session between the school run and a late start | Flexible hours or a shift that starts later | How busy the floor is at that hour, so ask the team |
| Outbound, straight after work | You train first and head off the island later in the evening | People who live off the island and finish at a set time | Hunger, so eat something before you train |
| Outbound, late evening | A longer session before the drive home | Anyone happy to eat dinner late | Closing time, and an early start the next day |
If you work shifts, read inbound and outbound as the start and end of a shift rather than of an office day.
Finding your leg in a single week
- Mark the end of your day that cannot move, such as a school pick-up, a family dinner or a first meeting. The session belongs at the other end.
- Pack the bag the night before, whichever leg you choose, so the stop never depends on a trip home.
- Try the inbound leg on one day and the outbound leg on another, in the same week.
- Keep the leg you would still manage on a tired day, not the one that felt best on a good one.
On Fridays the club closes earlier and the midday prayers take a slice of the day, so plan Friday as a case of its own. Ramadan moves the hours as well, so check them before you rebuild either leg.
| Days | Opening hours |
|---|---|
| Saturday to Thursday | 06:00–23:00 |
| Friday | 09:00–22:00 |
Hours can change, for example during Ramadan. Confirm with the team before a late or early visit.
The guide to training before work goes deeper into early starts, and the one on after-work sessions does the same for evenings.
A long road, mapped from one point
Airport Road is long, so the route box needs a fixed starting point, and it uses the place where the road comes nearest to RPM. Whatever you drive on Airport Road before that point is extra and depends on where you joined, which makes the box a floor for your trip rather than a forecast.
The stop itself is predictable from either direction: free on-site parking at AD HUB, a lift to Level 4, and keypad lockers to hold anything you carry in from the car.
Testing the plan before you commit
Book the free guided tour for the hour your chosen leg would bring you to AD HUB, so you see the floor as it is at that time. The tour is a walk round the club with the team rather than a session.
- Match the tier to how many stops your week allows, from Floor for the training floor alone to Atelier for one-to-one coaching.
- If you want a trial run of a full week of stops, ask whether a weekly pass is available. Pass availability changes, so check the price and inclusions with the team too.
- Find out how busy the floor usually is at the hour of your leg.
Questions, answered.
Is RPM actually on Airport Road?
No. Its only club is on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, which the mapped estimates place close to Airport Road. The route box at the top of the page shows them.
I drive onto the island before sunrise. Will the club be open?
Compare your drive with the hours block above. The club opens early and keeps shorter hours on Fridays, and Ramadan can shift both. If your inbound drive starts before opening time, the outbound leg is probably the better fit.
My partner and I share the drive on Airport Road. Can we both train?
Yes. The Mixed section is where the two of you can train side by side, and women who prefer a floor without men also have the Ladies section. Check that each membership covers the section that person wants.
Can I get ready for work after an inbound session?
Test it on a quiet morning first. The grooming hub has a vanity area with hairdryers and products. Showers and towels are questions for the team before you count on either.
I live on the island and use Airport Road only to cross it. Does this apply to me?
Mostly. With no bridge at either end of your day, direction matters less. Put the session at whichever end of the day is more reliable.
