Training on a Friday in Abu Dhabi

Yes, RPM opens on Fridays, with shorter hours than on other days, and the times are in the table below. Friday in Abu Dhabi is a half working day for government entities and the day of Friday prayer, so put a Friday session in the part of the day you control: in the morning if it is clear, or later in the afternoon or evening. Prayer timing depends on the date and the mosque, so go by your own mosque rather than a fixed hour. Many people keep Friday as a lighter day or a rest day.

RPM's Friday hours

RPM opens every day, with early-morning and late-evening opening through the week and shorter hours on Friday. Friday's times are in the table:

DaysOpening hours
Saturday to Thursday06:00–23:00
Friday09:00–22:00

Hours can change, for example during Ramadan. Confirm with the team before a late or early visit.

Ask whether Friday hours change in Ramadan or on public holidays, and which group classes run on a Friday, since the timetable changes. For the club as a whole, see RPM Gym in Al Manhal.

What shapes a Friday in Abu Dhabi

Since January 2022, Abu Dhabi government entities have worked a Monday-to-Thursday week with Friday as a half working day and Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, according to the Abu Dhabi Media Office. Private employers set their own weeks, so your Friday may be a full working day, a half day or a day off.

  • Friday prayer. Many Muslim men, and many families, plan a large part of the day around it. Its timing depends on the date and the mosque, so go by the mosque you attend.
  • Family time. A Friday lunch with family is a fixture in many households.
  • Traffic. Roads by mosques often get busy around prayer, and drives home from offices on a half day can bunch together.
  • Gym hours. Many clubs keep shorter Friday hours, RPM included.

Four ways to use a Friday

OptionSuitsPlan aroundSession that fits
Morning, once the club opensPeople who want training done before the rest of the day startsTime to wash, change and get to the mosque or to family plansA full session, if nothing is rushed afterwards
After the half day and prayerGovernment staff heading home from a half day, and anyone with a clear afternoonLunch, and traffic around mosques and officesA shorter session if lunch was heavy
EveningPeople who spend the day with familyThe shorter Friday closing time, and Saturday's plansA moderate or steady session before the weekend
Not at allAnyone whose Friday is full, or who wants rest before the weekendNothingRest, a walk or some mobility at home

Whichever you choose, decide it on Thursday evening, because a Friday without a plan tends to fill up with other things.

If you go to Friday prayer

  • Train early enough to leave time to wash and change before you set off for the mosque.
  • Keep that session moderate, so you are not still hot and flushed when you arrive.
  • Pack clean clothes for the mosque and keep your gym kit in a separate bag.
  • Whether RPM or the AD HUB complex has a prayer room or ablution area is not confirmed, so ask. Prayer rooms and wudu at the gym lists what to check.
  • If you would rather not rush, train after prayer and lunch instead and keep the effort a little easier.

Where Friday fits in your week

For many people Friday sits just before a two-day weekend, or opens three days with more free time. That makes it easy to stack too many hard sessions together.

Your weekFridayWhy
Government employee with a Friday half dayA short session after work, or restSaturday and Sunday can carry the longer sessions
Private-sector office worker, Monday to FridayRest, or an evening session if Thursday was a rest dayA full working Friday leaves less room
Shift worker on a rotaPlan Friday like any other dayYour days off matter more than the calendar
Weekend trainerA light session to open the weekendThe work spreads over three days instead of two

Avoid three hard days in a row. If Saturday and Sunday hold your big sessions, keep Friday easy. For a week built around the weekend, see a weekend-weighted training week.

Fridays that break the usual pattern

  • Ramadan: many gyms change their hours for the month, and Friday hours may change with them. RPM's Ramadan hours are not confirmed, so ask before the month starts.
  • Summer: a Friday session in the heat of the day means a hot walk to and from the car. RPM has free on-site parking at AD HUB and a lift up to Level 4.
  • Public holidays and Eid: hours can change, so check with the team before planning a holiday Friday session.
  • A late Friday: check the shorter closing time before planning an evening session. Training late covers late sessions on the other days.

// Frequently Asked

Questions, answered.

What time is Friday prayer in Abu Dhabi?

It depends on the date and the mosque, so check the timing at the mosque you attend rather than relying on a fixed hour.

Are group classes held on Fridays at RPM?

The class timetable changes, so ask the team which classes run on a Friday in the section you use.

Can I book a personal training session on a Friday?

Coach availability is not published. Ask which coaches work on Fridays and at what point in the day.

Is Friday a good day for a long session?

It can be, if your Friday is clear and you are not also planning hard sessions on Saturday and Sunday. The shorter hours set the limit, so check the table first.

Is the gym busy on a Friday?

RPM does not publish busy times. Friday patterns at many gyms follow prayer and family plans rather than office hours, so visit at your Friday hour and ask the team what they usually see.

Can I take a free tour on a Friday?

Ask the team when tours run. A visit at the hour you would really train shows the club as you would use it.
