An office in Masdar City, a home on the island: training at the home end of the day

If your office is in Masdar City and you live on the island, RPM in Al Manhal sits at the home end of a mainland commute. Train before you drive out in the morning or after you get back in the evening, and use days working from home for a midday session. A gym at the office end makes more sense only if lunch or straight after work are the slots you really want.

An office off the island, a flat on it

Masdar City's website describes it as both an urban community and a business free zone, and it lies on the mainland. This page is for people who work in its offices and live on the island. If you live in Masdar City as well, your answer is a different one. RPM is a single club, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, with no link to Masdar City, and the route box calls the drive between them a mainland commute.

Read how RPM sits at the island end of a Masdar commute for the general checks. The guide for professionals living on the island looks at the same choice from the home side.

Home end or office end: what each one gives you

QuestionA gym at the home end, such as RPMA gym at the office end
When you can trainBefore the drive out, after the drive back, weekends and home-working daysLunch, or straight after work
A home-working dayYou can still goThe session is lost, or becomes a trip of its own
WeekendsThe same club, without driving outA drive back out towards the office
A late finishThe session waits until you are backYou train while the evening traffic eases
CoachingOne coach covers your whole weekOnly the office days

For most island residents with a hybrid week, the home end wins on the days that matter: weekends and home-working days. The office end wins only if you will reliably train at lunch.

A hybrid week, run from the island end

TuesdayMasdar City officeNone
WednesdayFrom homeMidday session at a quieter hour
ThursdayMasdar City officeAfter the drive back, before going home
FridayMasdar City officeRest. Midday prayers shape the day, and club hours are shorter

An example of a hybrid pattern, not a rule. Swap the days to match your own office and home days.

For the early Monday, pack the office clothes the night before. Keypad lockers in the changing area hold your valuables, and the grooming hub has hairdryers and products at its vanity area. Ask about showers and towels before your first morning.

Colleagues who make the same drive

If you share a car out to Masdar City with people who also live on the island, a shared evening slot after the drive back is easy to keep. Men and women can train side by side in the Mixed section, and women can also use the women-only Ladies section, with its own equipment and the Pilates studio, if their tier covers it.

When several people from one company are interested, ask HR about corporate arrangements. They are tailored to each organisation and confirmed on enquiry, and no company in the free zone should be assumed to have one already.

Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street, from the other end

The route box measures from Masdar City, so on an evening session it describes the drive you make straight from the office: Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street onto the island, then the final stretch on Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street (Airport Road). From AD HUB, your own leg home is extra. In the morning you drive the same line in reverse, from the club out to your desk.

Free on-site parking at AD HUB and a lift to Level 4 complete the arrival. Test one evening and one morning at your real hours before you settle on a pattern.

// Frequently Asked

Questions, answered.

Does RPM have a club in Masdar City's business district?

No. RPM has one club, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal on the island, and the route box shows the mapped trip from Masdar City.

Could I train at lunch from a Masdar City office?

Not realistically at RPM. A drive to Al Manhal and back will not fit an ordinary break with time left to train. If lunch is your only slot, a gym at the office end is the better choice.

I start work early. Is a morning session realistic?

Only if the opening hours, a full session and the drive out all fit before you need to be at your desk. If they do not, the evening after the drive back is your slot.

My partner works on the island and I work in Masdar City. Can we share one gym?

Yes. A gym at the home end suits both of you, since it is where your days start and finish. Each of you can choose your own tier, and the tier decides which sections it covers.

What about the weeks I travel for work?

Keep the routine for the weeks you are home, and restart with a lighter session when you return. Ask whether a weekly pass suits a short spell between trips. Passes are time-sensitive, so check availability and cost with the team, along with what a pass covers.
