When home and office share an island
Al Maryah Island is an island, reached from the main island by bridge, and it is a place of work as well as a place to live: ADGM's own website describes its international financial centre as located on the island. If your flat and your office are both there, a working week can pass without a single crossing. That suits the job and makes a gym across the water harder to fit, because there is no commute to attach a session to.
RPM's one club is on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal. From Maryah it is a short cross-island trip, so the real question is which days justify leaving the island. For the general method, read where RPM sits and how to time the drive from your own start.
Trips off the island you already make
Look at last month and list every time you left Maryah. Those trips are where a session costs least, because the crossing is already happening.
| Why you left the island | How a session fits | Slot that tends to work |
|---|---|---|
| Weekend errands or family visits on the main island | Train first, then do the errands | Saturday or Sunday morning |
| A meeting or site visit on the main island | Book a session for the end of that day | Late afternoon or early evening |
| Dinner with friends in central Abu Dhabi | Train before you meet them | Early evening |
| A child's activity on the main island | Train while the activity runs, if the timings match | After school, or on a weekend |
| A booked session with a coach | The session is the reason to cross | The same slot every week |
Two of these pairings a week will keep a routine going. Any session beyond that needs a crossing of its own, so give those visits a clear purpose.
Why the lunch hour rarely works from Maryah
Training at lunch works when the gym is in the same building as your desk. From Maryah, a lunch session at RPM means leaving the island, training, changing and driving back within one break, which leaves little time on the floor for the effort. If lunch is your only gap, a gym on the island is the practical choice, and the guide to training at lunch shows how to judge one.
- The exception is a day with a long or flexible break, when nothing is booked after lunch.
- A day you work from home, or from a client's office on the main island, can also open up the middle of the day.
- On leave, any hour that suits the opening times works, and quiet daytime hours are worth asking the team about.
Three ways to split a Maryah week
| Your pattern | On the island | At RPM |
|---|---|---|
| Five office days on Maryah | Short weekday sessions, if you use a gym on the island | One weekend visit for heavy lifting, coaching or the recovery suite |
| Hybrid, with days at home | Office-day sessions, if a gym on the island suits you | Home days, crossing at a quiet hour of the morning or early afternoon |
| Frequent work travel | Whatever fits around flights | Coached sessions booked for the weeks you are in town |
If you travel a lot, ask whether a day pass or a weekly pass is available for the gaps. Both are time-sensitive, and the team confirms availability, price and inclusions.
Women who want a floor without men can make the Ladies section their reason to cross. It has its own strength and cardio equipment and the Pilates studio, and reformer classes run there. If you use the recovery suite, check with your doctor first if you are pregnant or have a heart condition.
| Days | Opening hours |
|---|---|
| Saturday to Thursday | 06:00–23:00 |
| Friday | 09:00–22:00 |
Hours can change, for example during Ramadan. Confirm with the team before a late or early visit.
Crossing over, and getting back to the office
The mapped route from Al Maryah Island follows Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Street (Salam Street) before the final stretch on Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Street into AD HUB. You park in AD HUB's free on-site parking and take the lift to Level 4. The route box gives the mapped estimates, and office hours on both islands can stretch them.
If you are going back to work after a session, plan the change before the first visit. Carry office clothes on a hanger rather than folded in the kit bag, keep a wash bag at your desk rather than in a hot car, and ask the team about showers when you book the free guided tour.

Questions, answered.
Is RPM on Al Maryah Island?
No. RPM's only club is in Al Manhal on the main island, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex. From Maryah it is a short cross-island trip, with the mapped estimates in the route box above.
Can my employer on the island arrange memberships for staff?
Ask your HR team whether they have spoken to RPM. Corporate arrangements are tailored to each organisation, with the details confirmed on enquiry.
Is one session a week worth the crossing?
It is if that session is one you cannot get on the island, such as one-to-one coaching or a reformer class in the Ladies section. For a general workout, a single weekly crossing is harder to justify.
Can I get ready for a meeting after training?
Plan it before you rely on it. Use the keypad lockers in the changing area, then the vanity area in the grooming hub, which has hairdryers and products. Whether towels are provided is a question for the team.
My partner and I both work on Maryah. Can we train together?
Yes. Men and women train together in the Mixed section. Women can also use the Ladies section, which is for women only. Which sections a membership covers depends on the tier, so confirm it for each of you.
