A longer trip changes the arithmetic
Saadiyat Island is an island, reached from the main island by bridge, and getting to RPM on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal is a longer bridge trip. The route box above gives the mapped estimates. Before you look at equipment, weigh the time on the road against the time you would spend training. The general version of this check is on how far RPM is from your front door, in real traffic.
- Call your round trip at your training hour R, door to door, timed on a normal day.
- Call the time you would spend on the training floor F.
- If F is comfortably bigger than R, the drive is a fair overhead for a regular session.
- If R approaches F, or passes it, each visit should give you something you cannot get without the trip.
From Saadiyat, most people land in the second situation. That is not a reason to rule RPM out. It means the visit needs a purpose that a smaller gym on your side of the bridge cannot meet.
Three reasons that justify the drive
| Your reason | What RPM has for it | Test it before you commit |
|---|---|---|
| Training with women only, including reformer Pilates | The Ladies section, with its own strength and cardio equipment and the Pilates studio, where reformer classes run | Ask which apparatus a class uses, and confirm that your tier covers the Ladies section |
| Working with a coach | Personal training with RPM's coaches, coached programming in the Engine tier, and the Atelier tier built around one-to-one coaching | Book one session and ask how the coach would plan the days you train elsewhere |
| Lifting heavier than a smaller gym allows | A squat rack with colour bumper plates, fixed barbells, plate-loaded machines and cable towers | Visit at your usual hour and see whether the rack is in use |
Reformers (some with towers), trapeze-table frames and a ladder barrel all appear in the studio photos. Ask the team which of them a given session uses.
Read about personal training at RPM if coaching is your reason. A coach can also write the sessions you do between visits, so the drive carries the work that needs supervision and the rest happens wherever you are.
Making the Ladies section the reason
For many women on Saadiyat weighing this trip, the deciding question is whether they can train without men around. At RPM the answer is the Ladies section: a separate area for women only, with its own strength and cardio floor and the Pilates studio inside it. It is where the female coaches on the roster work.
That layout lets one visit cover two goals. A reformer class and a strength block can sit back to back in the same section, which suits a longer trip far better than two short visits. The reformer Pilates page explains how the classes work, and the timetable changes, so check it before you set off.
- Ask whether a reformer class and a coached strength session can be booked on the same day.
- Ask which female coaches work at the hours you would come.
- Confirm the tier covers the Ladies section and, if you want it, the recovery suite. Pregnant women and anyone with a heart condition should check with a doctor before using the sauna or ice bath.
When staying on Saadiyat is the better answer
- You want to train most days, in short sessions that fit around work and family.
- Your training is mainly cardio and moderate weights, which most gyms handle well.
- You train only at weekends and would rather not spend a day off on the road.
- Your working day is on Saadiyat or further from the main island, so a visit to Al Manhal is never on the way.
If your office is on the main island, the sums change. A session at RPM after work turns the longer trip into a stop on a drive you already make, and only the weekend visits remain special trips.
Bridge, street and tunnel: the mapped route
The mapped route crosses Sheikh Khalifa Bridge and uses Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street and the Sheikh Zayed Tunnel, then the final stretch on Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Street into AD HUB. There is free on-site parking there, with a lift to Level 4. Expect the real trip to run longer than the figures, especially around office hours.
| Days | Opening hours |
|---|---|
| Saturday to Thursday | 06:00–23:00 |
| Friday | 09:00–22:00 |
Hours can change, for example during Ramadan. Confirm with the team before a late or early visit.
Book the free guided tour for the time of day you would train, and drive it then rather than at a quiet hour. Fridays run shorter at the club, and Ramadan can change the times, so check before planning a visit around either.
Questions, answered.
Is there an RPM club on Saadiyat Island?
No. RPM's only club is on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, on the main island. From Saadiyat it is a longer bridge trip, and the route box shows the mapped estimates.
How often is the trip from Saadiyat worth making?
Often enough to serve your reason. For coaching, that may be one or two booked sessions a week. For the Ladies section as your main gym, it means more visits, so run the road-time test first.
Can my husband train while I use the Ladies section?
Yes. Men train in the Mixed section, so a couple can share the drive and use different sections. Which sections each membership covers depends on the tier, so confirm it for both of you.
Can I combine Pilates and strength work on one visit?
Yes, in the Ladies section, which has both a strength and cardio floor and the Pilates studio. Ask the team for the class timetable and book the strength block around it.
Should I join before trying the drive?
No. Take the free guided tour first, at your usual training hour, and time the trip there and back. If the Ladies section is your reason, ask to see it on the tour.
