A day that starts and ends in Masdar City
Masdar City sits on the mainland, and RPM's club in Al Manhal is a mainland commute from it, with the mapped estimates in the route box. If you study or work in Masdar City as well as living there, an ordinary week may not take you onto the island at all. That makes RPM a planned trip rather than a stop, and a planned trip needs a reason. For the wider picture, read what RPM's single club offers someone starting off the island.
| Your week | Honest verdict | Where RPM fits |
|---|---|---|
| Study or work in Masdar City, rarely leave it | Train where you live | An occasional visit for coaching or the recovery suite |
| Regular trips into central Abu Dhabi for work, a placement or family | Worth comparing | A session on those days, at either end of the trip |
| Work on the island, live in Masdar City | Worth a serious look | Before or after work, on the commute you already make |
| A woman who wants to train only among women | Worth the trip if no local option suits | A weekly visit to the Ladies section and its Pilates studio |
Semester rhythm and the island trip
| Point in the year | Training pattern | Where RPM fits |
|---|---|---|
| Teaching weeks | Short, regular sessions where you live | One planned visit a week, if any |
| Deadlines and exam weeks | Keep moving, but cut the volume | Skip the trip and protect sleep and study time |
| Breaks between terms | More open daytime | A block of coached sessions, or several visits a week while the timetable is empty |
| The long summer break | Travel for some, spare time for others | If you stay, daytime visits are easier to fit, and indoor training beats the heat |
| Research or staff contracts that run all year | Working hours rule | Plan it like any office week |
The guide for university students covers keeping training going through the academic year, including the weeks when everything else takes over.
What would make the trip worth it
- Coaching: personal training built around your goal and timetable, or the coached tiers, with Engine for coached programming and Atelier built around one-to-one coaching.
- A full strength floor, with a squat rack and colour bumper plates, fixed barbells, plate-loaded machines and cable towers.
- The women-only Ladies section, with its own strength and cardio equipment and the Pilates studio.
- The recovery suite, with a Finnish sauna, an aroma steam room and an ice bath. Ask which tiers include it, and get medical advice first if you have a heart condition or are pregnant.
- Fitness boxing and HYROX-style training on the functional floor. RPM is independent and not an official HYROX partner or venue.
Ask before you assume
- Rates: prices are not published online, so ask the team whether anything applies to students or university staff.
- Passes: for break weeks, ask whether a weekly pass or a day pass is available. Passes are time-sensitive: the team confirms whether one is available, what it costs and what it covers.
- Tiers: which sections and facilities each tier covers is confirmed on enquiry.
- Classes: the timetable changes, so check it for the weeks you plan to visit.
Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street from Masdar City
The mapped route from Masdar City follows Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street onto the island and finishes on Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street (Airport Road) into AD HUB, which has free on-site parking and a lift to Level 4. The route box measures a drive. If you would share a car or travel another way, test the trip at your real hour before relying on it.
| Days | Opening hours |
|---|---|
| Saturday to Thursday | 06:00–23:00 |
| Friday | 09:00–22:00 |
Hours can change, for example during Ramadan. Confirm with the team before a late or early visit.
Questions, answered.
Is the RPM club inside Masdar City?
No. RPM's one club is on the island, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, and the route box shows the mapped trip from Masdar City.
Do students or university staff get different pricing?
Prices are not published online, so ask the team directly what applies to you. Do not plan around a rate until it is confirmed.
I am in Abu Dhabi only for a degree or a contract. Is a membership sensible?
It depends on how often you would visit. For a stay with long breaks, ask which tier or pass options suit, and how a membership handles time away. Take the free guided tour before deciding.
I share a car with flatmates. Can we train together?
Yes, if your timetables match. The Mixed section is open to men and women, and women can also use the Ladies section if their tier covers it.
Which week should I try it in?
A normal teaching week, at the hour you would really go. A trial during a break will feel easier than the term-time reality.
