Three Mussafah readers, three different answers
Abu Dhabi's Department of Municipalities and Transport describes Mussafah as one of Abu Dhabi's most important industrial and commercial districts, home to a community of residents and workers as well as businesses. That gives this page three kinds of reader: people who live there, people who work there, and people who live there but work on the island. From any of those starting points, RPM's club in Al Manhal is a mainland commute, and every visit includes a bridge crossing. To judge a trip like that before joining any club, read whether RPM's one club suits a trip across the water.
| You | Honest verdict | When RPM fits |
|---|---|---|
| Live and work in Mussafah | A gym by home or by work is more practical | Rest days, for coaching, the Ladies section or the recovery suite |
| Work in Mussafah, live elsewhere on the mainland | Train at whichever end of the day is easier | Rarely, unless a coached session justifies a separate trip |
| Live in Mussafah, work on the island | RPM is worth comparing | After work, before the drive back across the bridge |
Fitting the crossing around a shift pattern
Shift work changes the question from which evening to which part of the cycle. The club opens early in the morning and closes late in the evening, with shorter Friday hours, and the exact times are below. Match them against your rota before you think about the drive.
| Days | Opening hours |
|---|---|
| Saturday to Thursday | 06:00–23:00 |
| Friday | 09:00–22:00 |
Hours can change, for example during Ramadan. Confirm with the team before a late or early visit.
| Your pattern | Where a session can go | What to watch |
|---|---|---|
| Early shifts that end in the afternoon | Straight after the shift, or after a meal and a rest at home | Training hungry or short of sleep after a very early start |
| Late shifts | Late morning or around midday, before the shift | Leaving time to eat and get back for the start of the shift |
| Nights | Your first or second day off, once you have slept | Getting behind the wheel while drowsy at the end of a night |
| Rotating weeks | Booked week by week as each rota comes out | A fixed slot that stops fitting when the rota turns |
| Long blocks on, long blocks off | Several sessions in the days off, few or none during the block | Expecting the routine to carry through a working block |
Rest days as the training days
For a shift worker, the most dependable training time is often a rest day. It also removes the main objection to the crossing, because you are not squeezing the drive between work and sleep. Use those visits for what a gym by home may not offer:
- A coached session with a personal trainer, booked for the same point in each cycle where the rota allows.
- Strength work on the training floor: the squat rack with colour bumper plates, plate-loaded machines such as the leg press, and cable towers.
- Conditioning in the functional area, with a turf lane and sled, kettlebells, battle ropes and heavy bags.
- The recovery suite at the end: a Finnish sauna, an aroma steam room and an ice bath. Ask which tiers include it, and speak to a doctor before using it if you have a heart condition or are pregnant.
- For women, the Ladies section, with its own strength and cardio equipment and the Pilates studio.
Coming over straight from work
- Pack a full change of clothes, not only training kit, if your work clothes come home dusty or oily.
- Keep work boots in the car, and use the keypad lockers in the changing area for smaller things. Ask the team about larger bags.
- Ask about showers, and whether towels are provided, before you plan to change at the club.
- Eat something on the way if the shift ran long.
- If a night shift has left you drowsy, sleep first and train on another day.
- In the hot months, drink water through the shift as well as at the club.
Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street and the crossing
The mapped route from Mussafah crosses onto the island and follows Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street, and the route box gives the figures with the method behind them. They start from one mapped point for the district, so time the trip from your own door or site. At AD HUB, the free parking is on site and the lift takes you up to Level 4.
Test the crossing at the hour you would really make it, at the end of a shift or on a rest day, and book the free guided tour for when you arrive. The tour is a walk-through with the team rather than a workout.

Questions, answered.
Does the page title mean RPM has a club in Mussafah?
No. The title names the readers, not a location. RPM's only club is in Al Manhal, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex, and this page is for people in Mussafah weighing the crossing to it.
A few colleagues on the same rota want to train together. Can we?
Yes. If your rest days line up, you can plan visits together. If your employer wants to support it, corporate arrangements are tailored to each organisation and confirmed on enquiry.
My days off move every week. Is a membership still sensible?
It can be, if you will make a visit or two in most weeks. Ask the team which tier fits an irregular pattern, since inclusions and prices are confirmed on enquiry. If visits will be rare, ask about passes instead.
Is a day pass worth it for a single rest day?
Possibly, for a one-off coached session or a recovery visit. Ask the team if a day pass is on sale at the moment. Pass terms change, so the team gives you availability, price and inclusions.
My wife lives in Mussafah too. Where would she train?
In the Ladies section, if she prefers to train among women only. The section has its own strength and cardio floor plus the Pilates studio, with female coaches from the roster. She can also use the Mixed section. Check which sections her tier covers.
