Danat Al Emarat Hospital in Rabdan: a session once you are over the bridge

If you work at Danat Al Emarat in Rabdan and your drive home crosses onto the island, RPM in Al Manhal can sit on the island side of that crossing, after the bridge and before home. If home is on the mainland, every visit adds a longer bridge trip there and back, and a gym by home will usually serve you better. The test below shows which case is yours.

A hospital at the bridges, a club in the middle of the island

Danat Al Emarat's website describes it as a specialty hospital for women and children, part of M42, and places it in Rabdan. Rabdan sits on the mainland side of the bridges onto Abu Dhabi island, so the question for staff is which way the drive home goes.

RPM is one club, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, and it has no arrangement with the hospital or with M42. The route box rates the drive a longer island or bridge trip. Before you count it into your week, read the checks worth running on RPM before you add it to a bridge commute.

A fit test for the crossing home

Answer each question for an ordinary working week, not an unusually quiet one.

QuestionIf yesIf no
Does your drive home cross onto the island?RPM can sit between the bridge and your front doorEach visit is a separate crossing, so keep RPM for rare days
Does that drive pass through central Abu Dhabi? The detour to Al Manhal is smallDrive the detour once at your usual hour before counting on it
Do your shifts end at a predictable time? You can book a session or a class with confidenceKeep a flexible session in your bag rather than a booking
Do you want something RPM has, such as coaching, the Ladies section or the recovery suite? That gives the stop a purposeA gym by home or by the hospital may do the job
Can a kit bag live in your car?The stop needs no trip home firstPlan sessions for days off instead

Mostly yes in the first column, and the island-side stop deserves a trial. Mostly no, and RPM is an occasional extra at most.

When home is on the mainland

If you live on the mainland, your drive home never crosses the bridges, and a session at RPM means a longer bridge trip there and another back. For everyday training, a gym by home or by the hospital is the sensible choice, and the guide to choosing between a gym by work and one by home weighs that in full. RPM can still earn a visit now and then:

  • A coached session every week or two through personal training, with a plan to follow locally in between.
  • For women who want to train among women only, the Ladies section and its Pilates studio, if you have not found a women-only floor by home.
  • A day off already spent in central Abu Dhabi, with errands either side of the session.

Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street onto the island

Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street carries the mapped route from the hospital over to the island, and Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street (Airport Road) brings it into Al Manhal. The car stays in AD HUB's free on-site parking while you ride the lift to Level 4. Expect the real drive to run longer than the figures in the route box.

If your usual way home uses a different bridge, try the detour to AD HUB once after a real shift before you sign anything.

Start with a day off

Book the free guided tour for a day off, when you can look round without watching the clock, and ask which tier covers what you want. Then try one stop after a real shift. If a day pass or a weekly pass is running, it lets you test the stop before joining. Whether a pass is on offer, and at what price, changes over time, so check with the team.

// Frequently Asked

Questions, answered.

Is RPM part of Danat Al Emarat or M42?

No. RPM is an independent club with a single location, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal on the island, not in Rabdan.

I live on the island but finish late. Is a stop still realistic?

Check the hours above against your finish time plus the drive. The club keeps late-evening opening, with shorter Friday hours, but a late finish and a crossing may leave too little time. On those days, go home.

Is it worth crossing just for the recovery suite?

Rarely, if you come from the mainland. If you live on the island, it can be worth it after a session on a day off. If you are pregnant or have a heart condition, ask your doctor before using heat or cold, and ask the team which tiers include it.

Does RPM offer anything special for the hospital's staff?

There is no arrangement with the hospital, and prices are shared on enquiry. If a group of colleagues is interested, your employer can ask about corporate arrangements, which are set up per organisation.

Would a gym in Rabdan suit me better?

For daily training from a mainland home, a gym by home or work is usually simpler. RPM earns its place when your evening already crosses onto the island, or when you want something specific from it.
