A technical campus off the island, and a club on it
Abu Dhabi Polytechnic describes itself as an affiliate of the Institute of Applied Technology, with an Abu Dhabi Main Campus and a second campus in Al Ain. Its main campus page lists programmes such as petroleum engineering technology, meteorology, information security and electro-mechanical systems. This page is for the students and staff at the Abu Dhabi campus, which is on the mainland.
RPM has no link with the polytechnic. It is one club, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, and the route box rates the trip from campus a mainland commute. That is too far to fit between classes, and a lot to ask on a tired weekday evening. For the general checks, see RPM's one club, read from a technical campus off the island.
Campus weeks, placement weeks and where each day ends
The polytechnic says it combines academic study with structured on-the-job training in industry settings. For gym planning, that means your weekday base can move during the year, and the answer moves with it.
| The week you are in | Where your day ends | Does a weekday session at RPM fit? |
|---|---|---|
| Classes, labs and workshops on campus | On the mainland | Rarely, unless you live on the island and pass the centre on the way home |
| On-the-job training at a workplace on the island | In the city | Often: train after the working day, before heading home |
| On-the-job training at a site elsewhere on the mainland | Away from the island | Rarely: keep weekdays for a gym by home |
| Exam or project deadline weeks | Wherever the deadline is | No: short sessions by home, or rest |
Read the table once a term, when you know where the coming weeks will put you, rather than guessing week by week.
Saturday and Sunday: the visit worth planning
For most students on this campus, the weekend is where RPM earns its place. There is no class to rush back to, so the commute buys a long, unhurried session. Plan it as a fixed fixture:
- Arrive with a plan for the main lift: squats on the rack with colour bumper plates, a press, or the leg press and pulldown machines.
- Add conditioning in the functional area: the turf lane with a sled, battle ropes, kettlebells or the heavy bags.
- If your tier includes it, finish in the recovery suite, which has a Finnish sauna, an aroma steam room and an ice bath. Ask a doctor first if you have a heart condition or are pregnant.
- Before you leave, write down the two or three short sessions you will do by home during the week.
A coach makes that weekly visit go further. Through personal training, the coach can set the weekend session and also write the weekday work you do elsewhere. Fridays are the awkward day, with shorter club hours and midday prayers, so Saturday morning is usually the easier slot.
When the week has already been physical
Workshop days and site placements can mean hours on your feet, carrying kit or working outdoors in the heat from May to September. Count that as training load, not as a day off, and set the weekend session by how the week went:
- A desk-heavy week of lectures and coursework: the weekend session can be your hardest of the week.
- A week of practical work on your feet: keep the heavy lifting, trim the conditioning and give mobility more time.
- A week on an outdoor site in summer: drink steadily, eat before you drive in, and count a lighter session as a success.
| Days | Opening hours |
|---|---|
| Saturday to Thursday | 06:00–23:00 |
| Friday | 09:00–22:00 |
Hours can change, for example during Ramadan. Confirm with the team before a late or early visit.
During Ramadan, campus and club timetables both change. Rebuild the plan once you know the adjusted hours, and if you fast, consider a session after iftar.
Along Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street, and trying it before you pay
The mapped route from the campus follows Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street onto the island and finishes on Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street (Airport Road) into AD HUB, which has free on-site parking and a lift to Level 4. On a weekend you will probably drive from home, so time that trip rather than the campus figure.
Book the free guided tour on a Saturday, the day you are most likely to train. RPM does not publish prices, and no student rate is published, so ask. To test a few weekends first, ask whether a day pass is available. Passes are time-sensitive, so confirm the price and what it includes with the team.

Questions, answered.
Is RPM on the Abu Dhabi Polytechnic campus?
No. RPM has one club, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal on the island, and no connection with the polytechnic. From the main campus it is a mainland commute, as the route box shows.
Does this page apply to the Al Ain campus?
No. The mapped route starts at the Abu Dhabi Main Campus. Students in Al Ain should look for a gym by home or by their campus.
My on-the-job training is in an office on the island. Can I train after work?
Yes, and those are the weeks RPM fits best on a weekday. Time the drive from your workplace to AD HUB at the hour you finish, then keep that slot for the length of the placement.
Can women students train away from men?
Yes. The Ladies section is a women-only area with separate strength and cardio equipment, plus the Pilates studio. Female coaches from the roster work in it, and your tier decides whether you can use it.
Is one weekend visit a week enough to be worth a membership?
It can be, if the visit is long and the weekday sessions by home follow a plan. Ask the team which tier suits that pattern, since inclusions and prices are confirmed on enquiry.
