For people who come to the sand, not the promenade
Corniche Beach is the beach along Abu Dhabi's Corniche, and the route box above measures from the point mapped in Al Khalidiyah. This page is for people who spend mornings, afternoons or weekends on the sand: sea swimmers, families on a beach day and visitors on holiday. Runners on the promenade and drivers on Corniche Street have other questions.
RPM is not on the waterfront. It is one club, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, and the general picture is on where the club is if your weekends start on the sand. What a beachgoer gains from it is the loaded strength work, coaching and indoor training that a beach cannot offer.
Which goes first: the beach or the session?
| If your beach time is | Put the session | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| An early swim or a walk on the sand | Late morning or early afternoon | The gym takes the hours when the sun is strongest |
| An afternoon with the children | First thing, at opening time | Training is done before the family day starts |
| Sunset on the beach | Earlier in the afternoon | You reach the beach with the session behind you |
| A whole day at the beach once a week | The day before or the day after | A long day in the sun and a hard session make a heavy pair |
Fridays need their own plan, because club hours are shorter and midday prayers shape the day. Check the hours below before you promise anyone a Friday beach morning followed by a session.
| Days | Opening hours |
|---|---|
| Saturday to Thursday | 06:00–23:00 |
| Friday | 09:00–22:00 |
Hours can change, for example during Ramadan. Confirm with the team before a late or early visit.
From the sand to the training floor: a kit list
- A second pair of clean training shoes. Sandy soles and gym floors do not mix.
- Dry clothes for the session, and a sealed bag for wet swimwear.
- A small towel of your own for your hands, since sunscreen makes a bar or a dumbbell slippery.
- A full water bottle. A morning in the sun counts before the session has started.
- Your valuables in a keypad locker in the changing area while you train.
For salt-water hair, the grooming hub has a vanity area with hairdryers and products. Showers and towels are not something this page can confirm, so ask the team before you plan around them.
The summer handover
From May to September, beach time in Abu Dhabi tends to retreat to the first hour after sunrise and the stretch around sunset. The rest of your activity has to go somewhere, and indoors is the obvious place.
- Move beach visits to first light, and keep them shorter.
- Book indoor sessions for the middle of the weekend, when the sand is too hot anyway.
- Swap long walks on the beach for steady work on the cardio floor, with its treadmills, cross-trainers and bikes.
- Keep a gym bag in the car for days when the beach gets cut short.
- If you feel faint or unwell after time in the sun, get into the shade and drink water, and get medical help if it does not ease.
When the cooler months return, the balance shifts back, and the strength sessions are what you keep all year.
On holiday by the beach, and the drive across
Visitors staying for a beach holiday can ask whether a day pass or a weekly pass is available. Both are time-sensitive, so the team confirms availability, price and inclusions for your dates. RPM has no arrangement with any hotel on the Corniche or elsewhere. Women in your group can ask whether their access covers the Ladies section, which has its own strength and cardio equipment and the Pilates studio.
The mapped route follows Zayed The First Street (Electra Street) and finishes on Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street (Airport Road) into Al Manhal, a short cross-island trip by the figures. Arriving, you use the free on-site parking at AD HUB, then ride the lift to Level 4. Weekend afternoons by the waterfront can be busy, so allow for it.
Questions, answered.
Is RPM on the Corniche beachfront?
No. RPM's single address is Level 4, AD HUB Sports Complex, Al Manhal. From Corniche Beach it is a short cross-island trip, and the route box above has the mapped estimates.
Can I come straight from the beach?
Yes, as long as you change into dry kit and clean shoes first. Bring a bag for wet swimwear, and ask the team about showers before you rely on one.
Can teenagers who swim at the beach train at RPM?
Through youth fitness, which is coach-supervised and arranged by a parent or guardian. Ask the team which ages are accepted.
Is the recovery suite a good idea after a day in the sun?
Not always. The suite has a Finnish sauna, an aroma steam room and an ice bath, and after hours on a hot beach more heat may be the last thing you need. Ask which tiers include it, and if you are pregnant or have a heart condition, check with your doctor first.
I only come to the beach at weekends. Is RPM worth joining?
It is if you want strength training or a coach during the week as well. If the beach is your only exercise and you are happy with that, a membership may sit unused, so take the free guided tour and decide after.
