Beach Rotana: mornings by the water, strength after dark

At Beach Rotana, the morning belongs to the beach and the pool, and the evening is the natural slot for a strength session. The hotel's website describes its own full gym, so cross to RPM only for what you want and cannot get there, such as a coach, the sled and bags, the women-only Ladies section or the recovery suite. RPM itself is one club in Al Manhal, and the route box measures the drive as a short cross-island trip.

A beach hotel joined to a mall

Beach Rotana is a hotel in Al Zahiyah, and its website describes it as directly connected to Abu Dhabi Mall. The same site lists a private beach and an infinity pool, plus Zen the Spa and courts for tennis, squash and padel. It also lists Bodylines Fitness & Wellness Club, which it calls a full gym.

So the honest starting point is that you may not need RPM at all. RPM has no arrangement with the hotel or the mall. Its only club sits on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal. Read RPM's location for a stay that starts each day on the beach, then use the evening test below.

Why strength fits the evening of a beach day

A morning on the sand and in the water leaves most people warm, a little sun-tired and hungry. By evening that has passed. You have eaten, rested out of the sun, and the session no longer competes with the heat.

  • The beach gets the quieter hours of the morning, which suit swimming.
  • Midday goes to shade, lunch and rest.
  • Strength comes after sunset, when the sun is no longer part of the plan.
  • Dinner follows the session, which most people prefer to training on a full stomach.

Keep evening work to strength rather than hard intervals if you want to sleep well afterwards.

Hotel gym tonight, or across to RPM?

Decide each evening by the session, not by habit. Ask the hotel what Bodylines holds before you assume either way.

Tonight's sessionStay at the hotel ifCross to RPM if
Upper-body strengthIts equipment covers your planYou want a coach to check your technique
Heavy legsIt has the rack and plates you needYou want the squat rack with colour bumper plates
ConditioningCardio machines will doYou want the sled on the turf lane, battle ropes or heavy bags
A session among women onlyThe hotel can offer oneYou want the Ladies section, with its own equipment
Heat and cold after trainingThe spa suits youYou want a sauna, steam room and ice bath in one suite, and your pass covers them

Heat and cold are not for everyone after a day in the sun. If you are pregnant or have a heart condition, get a doctor's view before the recovery suite or any spa sauna.

Which sessions a hotel gym usually can and cannot host is covered in hotel gym or full gym. This page only helps you choose tonight.

From sun lounger to barbell in one evening

  1. Come off the beach before the sun is at its strongest, and drink water through the afternoon.
  2. Eat a proper lunch, then rest somewhere cool.
  3. Rinse off the sand and pack a bag with clean trainers. Sandy shoes stay in the room.
  4. Leave after sunset, once the end-of-work traffic has started to ease.
  5. Train, with a keypad locker in the changing area for your phone and keys. Ask the team about showers, and whether towels are provided, before the first evening.
  6. Head back for a late dinner.

Two or three evenings like this in a week cover most beach holidays.

Salam Street to Level 4

From the hotel, the mapped route follows Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Street (Salam Street), and the route box rates it a short cross-island trip. Once there, free on-site parking and a lift take you up to Level 4.

// Frequently Asked

Questions, answered.

Is RPM in Abu Dhabi Mall or at the hotel?

Neither. RPM is a single club on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, with no link to the mall or the hotel. For the drive itself, see the mapped estimates in the route box.

Does RPM have boxing?

Fitness boxing, yes: bag work, pad work and conditioning in the Mixed section's functional area. Ask the team about sparring rather than assuming it.

Can women train separately in the evening?

Yes. Only women use the Ladies section, which has strength and cardio machines of its own and the Pilates studio. Ask whether a visitor's pass covers it.

How do I pay for two or three evenings?

Ask whether a day pass is available for each evening, or a weekly pass for the set. Both are time-sensitive, so the team confirms the price and inclusions, and whether passes are on offer for your dates.

Can I train in the morning instead, before the beach?

Yes, at opening time. Keep the beach gentle afterwards and drink plenty, because a hard session followed by hours of sun is a tiring combination.
