Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers: an early session before the first meeting

On a business trip at Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers, the early morning is usually the one slot a meetings diary leaves alone, so that is where a session at RPM fits. RPM is one club, in Al Manhal, and the route box rates the drive a short cross-island trip, by taxi or by hire car. Check tomorrow's diary the night before, keep the session moderate, and get ready at the club before the first meeting.

A tower hotel, and a diary someone else wrote

Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers is a hotel in the Etihad Towers group at the western end of Corniche Street. This page is for guests in town on business: a trip of a few days, a car you may not have, and a calendar filled by clients and colleagues rather than by you.

Meetings move, dinners run late and lunch disappears, but the hour before the working day rarely gets claimed. RPM is not part of the hotel or the towers. It is one club, on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, so a session there means leaving the building early. See fitting RPM's one club into a diary of meetings before you plan the first morning.

Read tomorrow's diary before you sleep

Decide each morning the evening before. A decision left until the alarm goes off usually becomes another hour in bed.

Tomorrow's diaryMorning planWhat decides it
A breakfast meetingNo trip. A walk or a stretch in your roomThe morning already belongs to someone else
First meeting in the middle of the morningThe RPM session: strength work or an hour with a coachEnough room for the drive, the session and getting ready
A late client dinner the night beforeA shorter session, or sleep insteadA tired session before a long day rarely pays off
A day of presenting or negotiatingModerate work you know wellYou want energy left for the room
The day you fly outSkip itCheckout and the airport fill the morning

Two good mornings on a three-day trip is a solid result. Chasing a session every day usually ends with one rushed one and a late arrival.

From room to first meeting, step by step

  1. The night before, hang the meeting outfit in a garment bag and put your training kit beside it.
  2. Book the morning ride, and give the driver AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal rather than just the area.
  3. Eat something light before you leave, and take water with you.
  4. Train to the plan you set the night before. A meeting day is not the day for a new personal best.
  5. Get ready at the club. In the grooming hub you will find a vanity area stocked with hairdryers and products. Ask the team about showers, and whether towels are provided, before the first morning.
  6. Arrange the onward ride while you dress, to the meeting or back to the hotel.

Allow more slack on the first morning than on later ones. The second visit is always quicker, because you know where everything is.

What a meeting-day session should be

Keep it toLeave out
Pressing and pulling at weights you have used beforeA new maximum lift
Steady cardio on a treadmill or bikeHard intervals that leave you flushed for an hour
Mobility work for a day spent sittingA brutal leg session before a day of standing
One planned session with a coachTrying every machine on the floor

If you want the session run for you, ask for an early slot through personal training. On a trip of a few days, a coach who knows your plan saves the morning from guesswork.

Access, the drive and the hours

Message the team before you fly with your dates and the mornings you hope to train. Ask whether a day pass or a weekly pass is available, what each includes and the price. Passes are time-sensitive, so get the answer confirmed for your dates. To decide between them, read day passes or a weekly pass, and for training on work trips more widely, see gyms for business travellers.

The mapped route runs inland along King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street, and the route box shows the figures. If you have a hire car, AD HUB has free on-site parking. Either way, a lift takes you up to Level 4.

DaysOpening hours
Saturday to Thursday06:00–23:00
Friday09:00–22:00

Hours can change, for example during Ramadan. Confirm with the team before a late or early visit.

The club opens early enough for a session before most working days begin. Fridays are shorter, and the midday prayers shape that day's meetings.

// Frequently Asked

Questions, answered.

Is RPM inside Etihad Towers or the Conrad?

No. RPM's only club is up on Level 4 of AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, with no link to the towers or the hotel. The route box gives the mapped estimates for the drive.

I do not have a car. How do I get there?

By taxi or a ride-hailing app. Ask for AD HUB Sports Complex in Al Manhal, then take the lift to Level 4. There is no shuttle, and the route box measures the driving route.

Can I train after a client dinner instead?

The club stays open late, so you can. But a late dinner followed by a late session costs sleep before the next day's meetings. On most trips the morning holds up better.

Will my laptop bag fit in a locker?

Lockers in the changing area open with a keypad. Ask the team what size of bag they take before you bring a laptop to a session.

A colleague on the same trip wants to join me. Can we train together?

Yes. Men and women train together in the Mixed section, and a woman colleague can also choose the women-only Ladies section. Confirm what each person's access covers.
